Off to a primary school tomorrow to see what I can learn to develop our ks3 offering and help smooth the transition. It's been on my to do list for nearly 5 years so I'm very glad to finally tick that one. (I did this two schools ago but want it for my current context and experience)

A couple of hours of weeding the garden, which has been neglected for three weeks due to illness and coursework. My goodness do weeds grow fast.

Using the 67 meme to my advantage, saying 98 to help the physicists remember g for the applied exam today. I've taught some of them for 5 years.

This year, for EoY revision, I made worked example-practice booklets for year 10 and they love them. The students are really engaging with them. Now I have to make them for all the other exams...

In #MathToday I took over a year 10 class so an ECT could see how to do it. Lots of fun with solving equations with unknowns on both sides and MWBs and students really pushing themselves.

Today I put in two trips proposals for next academic year: science museum and Disneyland. Disneyland I'm hoping to do with yr 10 and 12 and get some a level buzz going.

Spent a bit of time today looking at ks4 curriculum and the experience of borderline students who move tier in year 10. Identified topics they'd miss, moved a couple units to make it easier and I plan on making catch up booklets to smooth it out.

Coursework in. Free from work outside of work. For about a week because then I start a level paper 3 marking. Ah well at least I get paid for that instead of paying to do it.

Really enjoying this coursework write up that is essentially a research-backed rant about needing to be treated like professionals with appropriate accountability (appropriate being checks, not straight jackets).

Saturday morning coursework. Just a quick (1 hour) tidy up of my writing so far and then a couple of hours of qualitative analysis that I'll write up tomorrow. It isn't due until Monday. That's ages away.

This year we standardised and QA'd our revision slides. Which is great because we now have a central bank of them. On the downside, I now have to wade through all the ppts to collate the slides so we can find the ones we want next year.

Treated today by a year 7 as "that teacher" with delight. Despite me knowing her name and greeting her and talking to her for a month or so she never knew my name. At least she was honest and polite about it.

Getting to the coffee shop early enough to get a fresh out of the oven croissant with time to read my detective book. 10/10 much better than yesterday's 3 mice. (An additional tail was found)

First day back after two days off sick. Auspicious start: found dead mouse behind my work bag, remains of a mouse in the living room and opened my umbrella to find a strut had broken.

Last weekend I powered through too much on my coursework so today I'm having to re-write a swathe of it. Ah well, I'm sure the time crunch of only a week until I submit it will be fine...

Essay update: now written about 1000 words, so 25% of what I need to. Also discovered EdD displate posters I want and may buy one to put in my eyeline when I am doing coursework.
