Last Saturday we were pepper sprayed & my car was towed, but w many others, spent today at Broadview ICE. It was cold& rained. I gave others whistle kits & trail mix, others gave me gloves & a rain poncho. We shared rapid response info/tips& made connections to help this city more. Never giving up 💚

The regime is looking into buying warehouses that were designed for clients like Amazon, hoping to retrofit them as detention facilities for immigrants. Can't imagine the depth of depravity it takes to even think of something like this.

CoreCivic isn't worried about not getting paid during the government shutdown—the government has to pay interest on the late payments. I have no problem with this in theory (except, y'know, CC shouldn't exist), just wish we treated federal employees as well as we treat huge government contractors.

Just like their friend in the White House, CoreCivic has a hard time understanding the word 'no', but CEO Damon Hininger is starting to acknowledge reality. For anyone who's missed it, the City of Leavenworth has been fighting off the opening of this facility for ~6 months.

🧵 Umm. 1. ICE is requesting information on potential sources for "marketing and recruitment support," but it seems they uploaded the wrong version of the statement of work doc. The document appears to have been drafted by a current marketing contractor, Red Carrot.

This is an ICE 287(g) program manager at the Dallas City Council special hearing on the program talking about making an arrest and "transporting the body." Hear how casually she said that? How natural it seemed? That's just how they talk about our neighbors.

The police chief in Dallas rejected a 287(g) partnership with ICE, but the mayor is pushing the issue. While the mayor didn't bother to show up to the public hearing on 287(g) today, Dallas community members did, and it's clear: we don't want ICE in our community.

ICE got $29.9 billion (with a B) over the next four years to use for purposes that include recruitment. The amount of money that they can shell out right now for this kind of stuff is enormous, so you can expect to see this more and more.

Andy Beshear is one of just a handful of Democrats that accept PAC donations from private prison/ICE detention contractors. His current and prospective supporters should hold his feet to the fire on this issue.

We don't traumatize whole populations- including children- to arrest men who beat their wives. Or pedophiles. Or fraudsters. Or people who sell cars that catch on fire. Etc. The community has rights. Why are they doing this - dragging away teachers in front of little kids? Who does this "help?"

If the people who care for our kids all disappeared, our country would fall apart. If ICE agents all disappeared, no one would miss them at all.
