Providence "parking ban remains in effect" emails just went out, which I think means that no parking on Thursday February 26. People are starting to send out Zoom invites replacing in-person meetings for Friday too so I think we are all throwing up our hands and admitting the week is shot.

In a city where few streets are plowed to the curb, on Harris Ave outside Now or Never PVD craft cafe, the snow plow apparently leapt onto the sidewalk and ripped an entire fire hydrant from its base. (Thanks to my friend who works near there for the photo)

In other news, the street curb is at my shovel, 7+ feet from the plowed lane. Yup, it’s back to single lane again, and even that lane has a foot of snow in it. We’re a significant secondary road one block from a hospital

The good news is we got the snowblower working. The bad news is the person using it blew a giant mountain of snow on top of the garbage bins. So, that’s what we’re digging out tomorrow. We have a plan to put the snow on tarps and drag it off to dump it …not sure where yet

Channel 10 News is reporting that TF Green Airport is officially at 32.8 inches of snow. More than the Blizzard of 78. That's a BIG deal. The Blizzard of 78 is the thing that all Rhode Islanders are legally obligated to compare every snowfall to. It traumatized the state. And still snowing.

Does anyone know how weather professionals establish official snow inches in windy conditions like this? @weatherishappening.com do you have any idea?
