Without sarcasm, I really admire being able to tell someone to keep walking in a situation like this. Doing anything sports-related online is a never-ending street fight for clicks. I respect writers like Arif who know their audience and are brave enough to tell people when they aren't in it.

I gotta tell you: as funny as this is, and though I wish it were true, it is way, WAY off. People are *fiends* for emergency podcasts. Sports pods not only do great numbers if they’re quick with a reaction pod, but find almost all their new listeners and viewers that way.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the three remaining openings are the three worst jobs. As I have said a few times, Browns fans need to recalibrate their expectations for this season and for the franchise going forward. 2020-2023 was a blip.

This is where the Browns deserve to be after running a shitty coaching search. They left themselves with one real candidate and if he turns them down for whatever reason, the search will be a failure. But if this is what finally puts AB on the hot seat? That would make it worth it.

The Browns can dress it up however they want. This is the same thing as the owner deciding on a whim to hire Freddie or Mangini.

Any time you can run a head coaching search for three full weeks to end up with two candidates, one of whom has been the defensive coordinator for three years, and the other who has two total years of NFL coaching experience.... THAT'S A REALLY GOOD PROCESS

There is some comfort for Browns fans that Haslam is not the only owner making this mistake. Schoen and Beane definitely also should have been fired. I wonder how much has to do with the massive expansion in analytics and scouting departments recently. Firing a GM could mean replacing 20+ jobs.

This coaching search feels a lot like the Jaguars last year. Liam Coen turned the Jags down to stay in Tampa until the Jags fired Baalke. The Browns settling on Schwartz is AB knowing very few candidates will take the job with him there and selling Schwartz to Haslam so he can keep his own job.

Is it overly dramatic to say there is a crisis in NFL announcing? Romo is incoherent, Michaels is a zombie, Herbstreit doesn’t even watch the NFL games he announces, much less the rest of them. And next up is Tom Brady, team owner and talking mannequin.

As I said last week, Stefanski landing another job and AB continuing here sets up a great opportunity to compare and contrast the two. My gut feeling is that Haslam has made the wrong choice yet again.

You know how I know Jimmy Haslam is one of the dumbest owners in football? One of the reasons he cited in his prepared remarks about why Andrew Berry should stay as GM is that he "fixed the kicker position for a long time." 1) That's just not how NFL kickers work

Andrew Berry leading this search is the latest example of Haslam making bad decisions because he is afraid of making big changes. This is destined to fail.

I agree this is most likely. To expand on my initial point, easy to imagine a scenario where Kev gets a job and succeeds and AB fails (again) to build any offensive talent. In this scenario, Haslam looks like a total fucking idiot yet again for firing the wrong guy and promoting an incompetent.

Interesting comments from Jeff Schudel in Stefanski's Friday press conference. He essentially accused the front office of failing to put a real offense together and scapegoating the head coach. If the Browns keep AB and fire Kevin, there's a good chance that makes the owner look foolish yet again.

The SEC is so dramatically overrated in the NIL era. I feel like these are the only two SEC teams that deserved to be in the playoff and UGA certainly didn't deserve a bye. I like Miami over either of these teams.
