RNF213, a host E3 ligase, ubiquitylates LPS to mark cytosol-invading bacteria for autophagy. But how do cytosol-adapted bacteria escape? We found that Shigella's E3 ligase IpaH1.4 blocks LPS ubiquitylation by degrading RNF213 via the proteasome. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Recent preprint from Porter group shows that it's sometimes possible to predict the alternative conformation of metamorphic proteins by removing the MSA. I can also just add to this. With @kjamali.bsky.social #ModelAngelo we were able to identify new proteins that are part of our complexes, where nobody had an idea they even existed. I complete changes the way how one can do research on non-standard organisms.
