the "please subscribe" left has decided that having sources that leak you information from inside the trump administration is impure now. they're so radical

Idk. I think US popular culture will still be dominant. Iβm just not sure it matters. Iβve known a lot of Koreans and Chinese people in my life. Two things they pretty much all agree on: 1.) Japan is a shitstain on creation and the Americans were cowards for stopping at two nukes. 2.) Anime rules.

one of the most distinctive things about the second Trump administration is the active attempt to appear as evil as possible. this is his portrait from his first and his second administrations.

I recognize that Schumer is not the leader of the party in any sense, but what I think is far more damning is the fact that there are no indications whatsoever that the caucus is displeased with this leadership.

this was way more prevalent when i was still on tiktok but it feels like people are getting really weird about alcohol, coffee, anything that might make you happy--even in innocuous amounts! feels like we're re-engineering puritanism as a method of maintaining control (over ourselves, each other)

If your decriminalization program is not about treating addiction like an illness rather than a crime, itβs just leaving wildly antisocial behaviour completely unaddressed while doing absolutely nothing for addicts. This violates the social contract in some pretty basic and obvious ways.

I think the main lesson ICE has learned from Minneapolis is that they can just avoid the big cities and sweep people from the countryside with minimal attention or resistance

Remember when trump said he would destroy air travel in North America by decertifying every Canadian plane? And then we never heard anything about it? If his brain wasn't turned to mashed potato, it would be a 5-alarms fire. Now no one remembers about it and it wasn't even 2 weeks ago.

Right? Itβs going to absolutely shatter our relationship with the USA in a way that dwarfs even the last year, and itβs not even on their radar. A half dozen idiots apparently freelancing this in Washington is going to crash entire markets and industries.

I used to do financial journalism in Vancouver, home of the penny mining stock scams. There would be days when ~40% of the stories were all shitcos changing their name to whatever metal was trending. One company went Gold to Silver to Cobalt to Rare Earths to Blockchain. Never dug a hole.

It's an even more apt one in that, circa 1920, you needed to put radium into everything to get attention/funding. If you didn't have a way to do that then, by jiminy, you damn well better find a way to work the word "radium" into the name of your product/service/company. Bullshit never changes.

We absolutely must internalize that A. The traitors generally are not popular but proactive, B. American intervention is more likely to be fitful, uncoordinated and driven by private interests rather than an organized top-down government effort and C. That still makes them very dangerous.
