I realise that this isn't a hill worth dying on but "enshittification", once upon a time, had a very specific and useful meaning, it didn't mean "thing used to be good: now thing bad", I know it's a fight we've all lost but still

This opening anecdote doesnāt really tell us anything about the pernicious state of American college life in general (and hence doesnāt say anything in particular about Deep Springs as a contrasting case). It tells us something about the authorās very unusual alma mater: Stanford.

There should be a Bond film featuring a dozen *potential* Bonds (all genders, all ethnicities) whose plot involves their battling it out for the one job opening. Kicks the can of decision down the road. Gives the franchise a nice postmodern twist. Pays tribute to the original Casino Royale.

The whole GOP talks like this and it's cult-speak. It doesn't even work on its own logic: if hydrocarbons are so precious and lack replacements, we should minimize unnecessary use by implementing as many replacements as we can. Which means expanding solar/wind and battery use where possible.
