Curious about the bad reaction to this. Was it because it was billed or assumed as more of a direct sequel to Return to Ivalice? Or was it the gameplay/grinding nature of it to progress the story, or just overall? I wouldn't have done it if not Matsuno, I'll be honest, once I saw the progression.

I always admired Kaleb Horton's writing so much and am terribly sorry to hear of his death. It's a long list of singular writers who didn't have the careers they should have because of the people, places, and things that killed online media, but his name is right at the very top. I hate all of it.

Preponderance of "chronological" - playthroughs, watches, reads etc, is there any way this doesn't obliterate the context, interrelationship, or even the unique characteristics of the original release order? Maybe it depends on a creative throughline, but even that seems specious.
