Keep an eye open now for Agalenatea redii, the Gorse Orb Weaver. Gorse is a good place to find it but it can also be found in other bushes, heather, grass, and on fences etc. Like many others in the family Araneidae, A. redii is variable in appearance, and has several strikingly different forms.

Small but feisty! This Zebra spider (Salticus scenicus) was getting annoyed at me trying to get a macro photo & jumped at me a couple of times, but always attached to a piece of silk so when I pulled back, it dangled a while before climbing back up to its perch. #arachnids #spiders

A spider in the recycling bin. Released but perused first. Quite dark for the Clubiona corticalis I usually see but I guess that's what it is. Sub-adult male. To big for comta. Usually start seeing them about now I guess.

A spider that's relatively easy to find in damp woodland in my locality, usually under stones. I think these have a nice colour tone and pattern. Coelotes atropos.

Is this an unusual phenomenon? @britishspiders.bsky.social Pirata piraticus in huge numbers amongst very long webs, Somerset Moors, on wetland. The webs extended alongside the grass verge next to the rhynes and all over the bridge. I have sent more videos and photos via Instagram 🤔🕷️🕸️
