When you see a big female walck in the tray without the raised head turret it only screams one hope, yes a female W.obtusa. From deep in the leaf litter. Have about 4 records for this now never seen the male.

Always nice to find a Walck! This female W. vigilax was the very last spider I picked up during a recent excursion; I’ve found it before but this one allowed me to photograph it properly for a change!

From a wet woodland in West Sussex, leg spine count indicates Porrhomma oblitum. But to be 100% i will get my county recorder to check the specimen. Appearance looks correct.

Porrhomma species and with the spine count on the legs ive ruled out all of them down to one species, of course this will be sent to my recorder to confirm but im 95% sure. Its Porrhomma cambridgei! A rare beast. From a path in damp woodland.

Another interesting Liny from the dying light of Halvana Plantation of a late afternoon last week. A second Cornish site for Maro minutus. This little 1mm thing is weirdly distinctive in the tray...aided very much by a head torch!!

This Male Walckenaeria acuminata may be common but its a fantastic looking spider, since getting into Linys this Genus is so fasinating. And its great that the male and female of this species can be Identified with a hand Lens.

Great to see Steatoda albomaculata at long last, in high numbers too. Interesting that it doesn't seem to want to move far, a bit like Asagena phalerata which it was alongside. The webs are brilliant, a typical Theridiid snare underneath very low vegetation over sand
