This decorated copper axe dates to around 1900-1700 BC, the beginning of Ireland's Bronze Age. It was found deep in a bog in Brockagh, County Kildare. The anaerobic bog preserved the leather sheath and its strap remarkably well. See it on display in

Yesterday, I wrote about an icon stolen from Kyiv by moscow. Here’s another case. The Ustyug Annunciation, early 12th century, painted in Kyiv. One of the oldest surviving masterpieces of Kyivan Rus. Later moved to russia as part of imperial policies claiming Kyivan heritage as russian.
