I'm Kate and I'm working on Concentric - a story about a woman being led on a journey of self-discovery through a series of circles of pleasure where she is confronted with what brings her joy and the challenges that those experiences bring up. I have an outline and I slept!

A3: The advantage of working within a hard system is that there are firmly set rules and guides to how things function and interact, which makes things more direct. In some ways that makes it easier on both the writer and the reader. On the other hand, it could be a lot to keep track of. #SFFChat

A2: Having written a bit of both, I prefer to depict softer science and magic. Quite frankly, there's too much to keep track of in a hard and fast rule-based system, and I don't want a continuity error to take people out of the story. #SFFChat

A1: I see both as being similar in that they are defined by the rigidity of their rules. The former being hard and fast in the confines of what is and isn't. A binary. The latter being more mutable and flexible. A spectrum. #SFFChat
