My whole life is a battle against enshittification. Linux is just the latest. Tea instead of paying $9 for a 12 pack of Diet Coke is something Iāve been trying recently. Iāve always used libby, lichess, wikipedia etc. The point is having control and not getting ripped off.

Windows 10 wouldnāt let me pick which apps are in my taskbar. Nor would it allow me to put it on the left side, which wouldāve been a big help because I use an ultrawide monitor so it took up way too much space. In literally any Linux distro, you get to choose.

This is also another indictment of Toddrick Barnetteās lack of oversight of MPD and its leadership. Minneapolis residents deserve better from leaders of such important public safety departments.

It was a massive error in judgment for Mayor Frey to nominate Chief OāHara while there were active investigations into very serious accusations that had been rumored for months. This is what happens when you prioritize optics and political expediency over governance and accountability.

Google is an abuser. Adding 4GB of data to some usersā Chrome was part of a pattern. They also added Gemini to gmail without anyoneās consent. And now it happened to me, with auto-dubbing completely taking me by surprise in a video with no words.

I was watching a Maru video on youtube and all the sudden a robot said āyeah.ā And then it happened a bunch more times. Google is now auto-dubbing videos. They turned it on without my approval. These videos have no words so it was all AI hallucination.

Itās not just Ken Martin who needs to resign. Itās anyone who suggested Ken Martin, and anyone who gave any directions to Ken Martin. The single most important report in the history of democracy ended up being AI slop with zero budget.

Apparently the DNC is in complete chaos over the 2024 autopsy report. The report is apparently more of the same. Fails to take responsibility & fails to accept that corporate centrists are out. of answers and out of touch, afraid & unwilling to promote fresh candidates representing younger voters.

My cat found a bun! There was a little baby bunny in our window well. This was yesterday morning. When I got back from work the bun was still in the window well so I picked it up and let it out.

Here's how playing chess by postcard has been going: The Minneapolis post office lost about a quarter of my postcards. So I started using Woodbury and they lost three of my postcards in a row. So I tried Roseville and they lost some postcards too. I think the problem is with USPS in general.

You donāt have to live in Minneapolis with the worst mayor in America. Iām in St Anthony now and itās northeast but with a good mayor. Thereās Edina if you want to be south, Golden Valley to the west, Woodbury out east. Competition is a good thing.

A huge thing to the credit of Ted Turner: he was widely criticized for his dumb and stupid classic movie colorization scheme and instead of doubling down and crashing out over the negative publicity, he listened to the criticism and launched Turner Classic Movies.
