The massive Orban defeat should prompt Dems to align themselves more firmly with anti-fascist and pro-democracy forces abroad. There's a powerful link to be drawn between the celebrations in Budapest and the confrontations with ICE in Minneapolis. 1/ (new piece)

Trump’s Humiliation in Orbán Defeat Stunner Is Only Just Beginning
For Viktor Orbán’s epic loss in Hungary to have real meaning in America, Democrats and liberals need to proclaim themselves part of the global anti-authoritarian movement.

Also, "woke" in the now-common white supremacist appropriated vernacular just means "I'm a bigoted and/or complacent piece of shit, and every reminder of the vastness of human diversity—up to and including simple basic acts of human decency—confront me with my moral failing, causing me to lash out."

A lot of Orbán's American fans are saying that this election proved he was never an authoritarian in the first place. This is completely wrong — and, in fact, betrays a complete misunderstanding of both Hungarian politics and modern authoritarianism. Here's why.

Victor Orban the original "spin dictator" has conceded defeat. The far right around the world have looked to Orban as the model. Trump and Vance interfered again and again to try and prop him up. Clearly the people in Hungary want nothing to do with Trump. This is a great day for democracy.

No one who tries to have a sexual or romantic relationship with their subordinates should be in a position of power. Full stop. Even under the most charitable circumstances of consent and mutual adoration, an elected official should resign before dating.

My rather basic theory about why more ppl use tik tok than bluesky: they're young. Young people grew up with video as the norm. We are old. We grew up with text as the norm. Twitter bridged the generation gap and kept its horrible old people after it became what it became.
