Great post @apsmunro.bsky.social! Doing more is such a natural reaction. But even 'benign' interventions may likely be harmful when tested properly. I'm yet to know of a trial for sepsis where adding antibiotics has been beneficial (outside of TB where we do it to prevent emergence of resistance).

Important to read the seminal paper on the discovery of the Bundibugyo virus. It is a different species from Zaire Ebola virus, differing in its genome by up to 32%. The vaccines and monoclonal antibodies for Zaire virus are unlikely to be effective here. journals.plos.org/plospathogen...

This is interesting. Testing changes abx prescribing for individuals but not overall rate of prescription. Negative virus test leads to more abx while positive has opposite effect.
