Okay I'll tell a quick story. A million years ago, I used to write for Esquire's website. I wrote a nice thing about Jimmy Kimmel that was almost certainly illegible trash. He then followed me on Twitter and, ever the Weird Twitter purveyor, invited me to meet him after a show after a goofy tweet.

I think he grew up when he got married and had a child with serious medical issues. I remember noticing a shift in the way he looked at things.

Never ever been a fan, even though my Ma lives for Kimmel and was just bereft at his cancelation. But this monologue was GOOD. He may not have a show tomorrow. But much respect. He could've gone further, but he went far enough for sure. Long way from the bouncy boobs of the Man Show, Jimmy.

I’m glad that Kimmel highlighted the attacks on journalists in his monologue. He laid it out in very straightforward terms, and good on him for using this unique platform to do so. Also good that he talked specifically about the hundreds of crew who would lose their jobs. Simple and clear.

The Kimmel monologue was 18 minutes of extraordinary, raw television that will be hated by the people who wanted him off the air for good. Trump and Brendan Carr lost this one as badly as it's possible to lose.
