I had no idea who Himes was when, as a Hollywood script reader, I was assigned "The Real Cool Killers" as a book to evaluate for possible adaptation. It kinda blew my mind. Of the limited number of hard-boiled crime fiction novels I've read, this rivals Thompson's "Pop 1280" as the best.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott offers "recalibrate" as a fourth "R" after Chuck Schumer's call to "restrain, reform and restrict" ICE. In other words, Chuck Schumer and Greg Abbott are on the same page. Schumer is so far to the right of his party, he must be removed.

Democratic governors and mayors should begin organizing their communities to eject DHS. Like actual organizing. Create local defense groups, like minutemen, that can shift hundreds or thousands of residents across town quickly. This is all perfectly legal, of course.
