I’ve avoided a lot of the Platner discourse because it’s a toxic tarpit, but I think the notion that the lesson here is primarily about either one political faction or something essential about “unvetted” newcomers, sits in some considerable tension with the entire Eric Swalwell experience.

The big story is the obvious corruption and how the Trump Regime and FIFA are both corrupt AF institutions who seem made for one another. But it says something about how little faith Trump has in Team USA to win on its own merit. About as much faith as he has in the rest of America.

An ad that argues private equity has too much power is taken down off the air by a private equity funded company that owns the team, the TV station that airs the team’s games, and the newspaper that covers the team. Platner couldn’t have written the script better himself.

If you'd like to read a post-2024 (inc. 2025) autopsy-like report that was thoroughly edited, built from strong research, focused on what voters were thinking, and did meet all stakeholders' (stringent) standards, please read ours. These were the conclusions, which we absolutely still stand by.

💡 The DNC released its half-finished 2024 autopsy today. It's not that helpful. BUT over the past year, various groups and individuals who are probably smarter than the DNC released their own autopsies of what happened in 2024. Here's a thread with all of them. 🧵

Reading through the "autopsy" report the DNC released is so depressing. A true study in incompetence. 1) it's not an autopsy 2) it says nothing 3) it really matters that we learn the correct lessons from our losses, and this is at best a total distraction from the actual task at hand.

Leaving the content of these ads aside: these data show content that takes Trump framing builds public support for Trump (bot right). That logically extends to science. When NASEM leaders invite Trump ppl to friendly events, it makes the public believe Trump’s attacks on science are ok. 1/
