Remembering FOR NO REASON AT ALL today, News Quiz writers rooms where it was always impressed upon us that we had to be as sure as possible that information on the stories we covered were verifiable as 'there will be people who get all their news from our little teatime panel show'

It may be an exaggeration to say this month's Nine/Rose BF story features Chris' greatest performance as the Doctor. But only a small one.

I knew the role of Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who was recast because Jon Pertwee felt the original actress, April Walker, was too tall. I didn't know there's a picture of them together from 1968 which perfectly illustrates this height differential.

So, today I encountered a piece of writing about old comics which can't really be completed without talking about a blatantly racist depiction of an Asian person. I suppose I was lucky it took this long.

regardless of the details I think it’s important to spin the Kimmel thing as a win Trump is weak, he’s unpopular, he massively overreached and inspired enough of a revolt that Disney had to backtrack immediately he wants to paint himself as an all-powerful dictator, paint him as a loser who sucks

In other Buster-related news, I have done some more work on my Cliff Hanger episode guide, and whilst I am aware the 'original run' tab is a bit bare, I am confident it at least identifies which strip appeared in which issue.

Something rather brilliant. Five minute Hitch-Hiker film. Rachel Parris is The Book, Tom Bell is Ford, Greig Johnson is Arthur / Jeltz. Everyone nails it beautifully. Ford’s inability to know how to react to Arthur’s upset is superb. I love this.

News from Finland. A 9-year-old lost an especially good stick he’d had since he was 2. He hung up 20 posters. A few days later it was returned. It had been found by a 2-year-old, who wanted to keep it for herself, but her mother made her return it. She got toys, flowers and candy as a reward.

- this on the rise and fall of the Choose Your Own Adventure series. For me, like many others, "Cave of Time" was the gateway to "Zork." Never would have guessed that I have the woman behind "Sweet Valley High" to thank for it all.

Brand new on Dirty Feed: today is the 50th anniversary of the studio recording of Fawlty Towers, "Gourmet Night". That episode's famous ending is pictured here. But it wasn't the originally intended finale. Instead, things were going to get rather more peculiar...
