Ōtepoti or Oamaru people. I have an old 20” Imac to give away. Its about 2008/9 & not upgradable to latest mac systems. There is a mac place in city that will take it but would rather give it to someone who might be able to use it. Please don’t make me turn it on:)

AI has huge potential, but harms (deepfakes, gendered abuse, bias) are real and rising. Sign the Open Letter calling on NZ leaders to deliver risk-based AI regulation & a national oversight body.

Rough vibes on this website today, likely because people feel Hopeless and Helpless Because Can't Stop It and No One Who Is Supposed To Is Trying To So Now We're Fighting Each Other™. I recommend activities such as book, or potentially instrument if you like instrument, or even do talk on phone.

Dear Aotearoa Bluesky, This [handmade] dress needs a new home! Would anyone like it? I'm not looking to sell here, I just want it to be ✨✨loved✨✨. The fabric is cotton with about 20% polyester (❌). That's its ONLY drawback and why I can't wear it - I will remake with a different, better fabric.

This is an outrageous abdication of journalistic duty. Grok's apology was prompted by a human, as was its equally vehement self-defense. People are willingly hurling themselves into the AI trashbin at the bidding of oligarchs who will happily remove them from their jobs.

The data is out there, but we're not powerless. Don't look for it. Don't use it. Refuse to engage with any media or gossip story based on it. Make it career suicide for anyone to use it as the basis of a story. Make it unacceptable in any group you're a part of to use the data in any way.

Quite correctly often hearing: "When someone is accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression." Because it's true. But we need to hear this more often: "When someone is used to absolute deference, the word 'no' feels like a mortal threat." Grasping that may save our lives.

If you haven't read the Eric Carter series yet, then I can assure you with great confidence that this is EXACTLY what you need to start 2026 off right. As opposed to the time that I started 2020 off by reading CRISIS IN THE RED ZONE by Richard Preston. True story, double handful of irony.

This is getting passed around a lot because of the way it's worded but it's important to note that researchers have not shown any such thing - they have shown that mice with similar biomarkers can have those biomarkers reversed. No human testing has occurred and shown recovery of cognition & memory.

It's that time of the year where the diet industry tries to hook you in. Reminder: 1. There is no moral value to food. 2. You don't need to do a detox: your liver, kidneys and skin are really good at doing that. 3. 'Clean Eating' assigns morality and status to how you eat. Check your privilege.
