I'm so tired of post-bedtime fireworks every single night. You haven't been able to buy them for three months now I don't understand how this happens for so long

Last day of leave today. I had one chore to do: tidy my desk First thing I found was my old driver licence. So I thought I'd finally get a new one with the right name. While I was there, I saw IRD was right next door so I updated my name with them too

I wonder if (almost) all my blocks on here should have been mutes instead, given it's mainly something I use to curate my feed. This platform makes it very hard to see who a post was by when it just shows "blocked post" There must be thousands though, surely far too many to convert by hand

God I hate New Year's Eve. No matter where I spend it, it always seems to be filled with dickheads trying to make as much noise as possible for as long as they can manage, often through some combination of alcohol and explosions I just want to go to bed. I've wanted to go to bed for hours, frankly

I sure do hate having my days filled with Surprise Turing Tests now Started paying attention to the song playing on Mum's Spotify and something felt off. Like the lyrics were something an incel asked ChatGPT to write for him Looked up a lyric and sure enough, there is no artist involved. It's slop

Great day. Love coming home, exhausted to my cats waiting for me. Less enthused at the ongoing fireworks (weren't last night's enough for them?) and loud thumpy music

I hope every single one of the multiple assholes in my neighbourhood who is letting off fireworks at midnight right now can't sleep until the new year.

It will always astound me how poorly government agencies seem to understand their legal obligations under the Official Information Act I've made dozens of OIA requests, but I could probably count on one hand the number of responses I've received that didn't deserve a complaint to the Ombudsman

Here are the headline paragraphs. The Ministry emphatically did not recommend this ban, and in fact repeatedly pointed out the significant level of harm it was likely to cause. The consultation found overwhelming support for continued access. The only people who thought different were cabinet.

Spotted a "Nans 4 Trans" sign here, I love that! I wasn't able to take it here with me, but I made my first ever protest sign for tomorrow's rally in Auckland. Both my parents helped me out with it ❤️

It *is* good that Labour's leader has finally said something - anything - in support of trans children's right to access healthcare. But at the same time, it sure is noticeable that he waited for a court to say something first. Doesn't lead me to believe there's any courage behind that conviction.

Some of you have probably noticed that, despite being made available to us over a week ago and being referenced in today's judgement, the regulatory impact statement remains unavailable to the general public. Yes, that's real strange.

It's amazing how much hearing the news about the High Court blocking (at least temporarily) the puberty blocker ban feels like a pressure valve being released 😭 Still protesting it later this week though!

BREAKING: The High Court of New Zealand has granted PATHA’s application for interim relief, declaring that the Crown should not take any steps to enforce the incoming ban on new prescriptions of puberty blockers to transgender children and young people. More to come:

A huge thank you to everyone who's donated so far - we're just about to hit $6000 which is incredible for the first day, and will mean access to care for two whānau for a year. That's two lives forever changed by your support - ka mihi nui ki a koutou ki te tautoko.

A round up of some of the protests against the government's attempted ban on puberty blockers happening this week (those I am aware of). Would be cool if cis people could show up to these in force! It would make me personally happy and I know you care about that.

Every major medical body in the country has come out opposing this ban. The message is clear: if the govt won’t support our trans kids, we’ll do it ourselves.

Ōtautahi, we’re rallying Friday from 6pm in Hagley Park at the corner of Riccarton and Hagley. No one is in support of this ban - every major medical body has come out against it. Let’s show that the public don’t support it, either.

Pō mārie Big weekend ahead. Four social events which is kind of nuts for me Tomorrow I'm seeing a lot of extended family for the first time in quite a while. Not sure what they'll all be expecting from me, exactly, so I'm a bit nervous even though it'll be fine What's planned for your weekends?

After seeing how badly one of the parties in this government has done at attempting to define "woman", I can't wait to watch them attempt to define "social media" What casualties will be swept up in the tide of bad lawmaking? GitHub? All forms of multiplayer videogames? Email?

Could we stop referring to "rainbow people" or "rainbow community" when talking about trans health care, trans rights, attacks against trans people, trans kids, transitioning. Trans is the correct superordinate category level here; it isn't rainbow people whose care was banned, it was trans kids'

Govt has panicked and realised they accidentally banned GnRH analogues for adults too and have quickly updated their legislation. Just shows how little thought went into this decision - no thought, just political ideology and disinformation.
