If you don't see the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few as a problem, you ARE The problem.

The aftermath of my marathon walk is that I raised $1673 for the heart foundation, don't have sore muscles or feet BUT am worried I may lose 2x big toenails (apparently called runner's toe but that's a complete lie I am allergic to running). Doctor's tomorrow to see if they can save them lol

Three years in, National are still blaming their cuts on Labour, and lots of the population have their bowls out asking for more of the same.

The fact that NZ is still 4th on the Corruption Perceptions Index is a miracle, or says an awful lot about everyone else. Or...maybe we just bribed them.

The biggest con in the world is the ultra-wealthy convincing everyone how disastrous and, quite frankly, impossible, it would be to properly tax the ultra-wealthy. Oh, and the myth of the "self-made man/woman".

The best chance of any meaningful change in the way the wealthy are taxed is a very strong Greens as part of a coalition. Can't see any other way it comes about.

I'm not opposed to more borrowing, actually...but...I love the taste of hypocrisy in the morning. That's a third more debt for New Zealand in five years.

Seems to be a concerted effort on Facebook by the Coalition to go into attack mode at the moment, but many of the comments on the posts aren't exactly complimentary about the government.

Remember when National made the somewhat farcical promise of continuing to deliver the same level of services, but cheaper? At least they've given up on that pretense going into the election, I guess.

So much financial gymnastics going on just so the rich can continue to not be taxed properly. "We can't afford this"..."we need to raise the retirement age"..."there is no money bazooka"..."we have to cut spending on X"... One simple solution.

I've encouraged some workmates to get involved: - 3 of them are walking with me - my son is coming from Christchurch to walk with us as well - others will walk part of the way - another workmate lives in Whanganui and is going to organise a marathon with his friends on the same day we do it in Palmy

At the local Boys; High School they have a cross on the front lawn for every past student that died in past wars. It's a sobering sight. You could not have been living in those times and not known multiple people who died during WWI or II. I am 56 years old. I do not know anyone who died during war

I don't want the left to sleepwalk to victory off the back of Luxon being so bad. I want them to present an alternative with vision and increased equity for society. I don't want Labour with their milquetoast "we couldn't possibly raise taxes on the extremely rich".

TOP talking about the “Blue-Green” space. Which is bullshit really - Blue policies in NZ have been extractive and worked against both the environment and people. Also indicates right-leaning to me. Nope.
