This'll have virtually no effect on trans women, who already weren't competing in the Olympics (in the more than 20 years in which trans women could participate in the Olympics, a grand total of... 1 actually made a team. She came in dead last in her event). However....

So much of domestic news in the US since last January is just reporting on the consequences of drastic policy shifts reverberating through complex systems with terrible first, second, and third order effects.

Thread. I'm begging people to realize how much we've already given in just the past 25 years. I'm old enough to remember when surveillance wasn't ubiquitous and before ICE or the TSA existed. There was even a time when the average cop wasn't kitted out for full on urban warfare.

This seems like a good time to point out that 95% of what the TSA does is security theater and it doesn't actually make flying any safer

Six and a half years later, my rent overcharge case with DHCR has finally moved into the "review" stage*—and consider that NYC is a city with GOOD tenant protection laws *now I just have to wait ??? days for a decision and then ??? days for the landlord to appeal and ??? days until they pay damages

He was 8 when his parents brought him to the US. He has abided by the law, earned two bachelor’s degrees and was en route to the NICU to see his wife and child. This serves no purpose but cruelty and does not make the US any safer.

This doesn't have to keep happening. It is possible to craft worlds where women and children are safe, rather than objects to be either dominated or protected from the domination of others. It is possible to create a world where people can just be safe in their bodies.
