We were hoping that this letter to

could first be shared by a Gazan, but we were too worried that doing so would get their account deleted so we are sharing first. You can sign on to the letter about the unfair treatment of Gazans on Bluesky here:

David Lynch spent the last years of his life homebound because nobody would bother to wear a mask to protect him, but all the fluffy obituaries aren't going to talk about that.

I'm not comfortable with anger at people I otherwise love. I want to fix it. I don't have any way to fix the anger I have at people and communities who tell me to my face that it's not important if I live or die, which is written on every unmasked face I see indoors.

When I’m struggling to write, I often go back to this David Lynch quote. ‘I discovered that if one looks a little closer at this beautiful world, there are always red ants underneath’

People were worried Lynch was retiring, he made it clear he was isolating due to Covid. He said he could perhaps direct remotely but didn’t really want to do it that way Like many of us with disabilities, he was left behind. People craved his work but wouldn’t wear a mask so he could create safely

You can honor David Lynch by wearing a mask in public. He had to begin isolating at home because he has emphysema- a COVID infection would likely be fatal- and no one wears masks anymore. Millions of others like him (including myself) were left behind when COVID measures were abandoned

David Lynch was a true realist documenting a haunted world. His work was a great act of empathy with all the humans living bewildered on an alien planet called Earth.

Our earlier bluesky community it was almost established as a norm that we were going to try to use alt text to be an accessible community. Then as bluesky grew we began to see ever decreasing alt text. There was always irrational hostility from people being asked to use alt text, but that got worse.

“If you’re that high risk, you shouldn’t be in large crowds.” They’re saying the quiet part out loud. Many believe disabled people should stay home forever and not belong in society. We deserve to exist in society safely. The fact that this even needs to be said is atrocious!

Too many people think Covid is inevitable - so they’ve given up trying to prevent it. The compassion is IN the trying. The effort is the radical act. If you get covid - you will have done everything you could to break chains of transmission & protect others. That’s worth doing.

Jane’s Addiction moved to erase the female co-founder’s contributions, despite them staring us all in the face. I’m glad we have this in artist Casey Niccoli’s own words now.

Got new neighbours. Wondered if they were sound. They've spent the whole morning chopping down all the lovely trees around the property. There's a bunch of confused little sparrows and pigeons just stood in the road, stunned. I feel so sad for them. Fucking hate this street.

Finally finished FFVII Rebirth. It plays great, but (no spoilers) I stopped enjoying its narrative at around the 30-hour mark, which—since it took 111 hours(!) to complete—is a bit of a problem. Big disappointment.

Goblin song conceptually? Fine. Good. Into it. Goblin song in practice? Insipid. Badly-autotuned. Awkward cod-Yoda phrasing. Swing and a miss.

The irony of just now realizing that limiting my mental exposure to genocidal racists to only a few hours a day actually helps my ability to gain perspective and allows me some creative headspace. I always thought my only value was "knows everything." Maybe not.
