Someone tried to get me fired by messaging my job saying I'm talking on here about using AI. They encourage it, you can't get me fired this way. Just gross how often "progressives" love to find excuses to try to ruin the lives of queer women with opinions they don't like.

very good rejoinder to a pretty shoddy and motivated piece. my main comment though is that i would not concede the idea that roosevelt — who essentially coined “liberalism” as americans have understood it — was an “anti-liberal”

the fact that early-stage automated vehicles that still occasionally require remote operation assistance are like several orders of magnitude safer than the average American driver should be the real wakeup call here, not the idea that these vehicles still sometimes need remote operation assistance

A classic! Problem with white liberals is that "Sometimes their beliefs are too progressive." Quotes Robin DiAngelo. "Both Crockett and Talarico are progressives... The difference lies in the coalition’s unwillingness to acknowledge and confront aversive racism."

I can't say if this is widespread or not, but during my decades on college campuses I found that most of the people who spent the most time studying fields like gender/race studies were uneducated more than most in a lot of other fields of studies that caused them to put their cause over everything.

in the elite circles of the US, racism is treated less as a matter of social stratification with direct implications for political stakes and more as a matter of moral etiquette. it is even more notable, then, that this administration can't constrain themselves to the meager associated standards

One of the revolutionary insights of liberalism (that many across the political spectrum have either through cynicism or radicalism apparently forgotten) was that political leaders are just people, and we can- and in fact must!- expect them to be normal and decent like anyone else

Where the alt-left can be wreckers is in non-electoral action: it owns protest organizing and this is making it impossible to have Israeli- or German-style consensus anti-fascism, and it enjoys suing the state on bullshit grounds that blue state judges humor instead of dismissing.

Sure, but the point is that in the states that mattered, there was no dropoff in turnout - what happened was persuasion, not turnout. The alt-left is better regarded as irrelevant in elections than as either a wrecker force or an important component of the coalition to be reckoned with.
