i'm in such a sour mood this morning about the death of lia smith. when a trans person kills themselves, it's not in some fucking agony over their gender. it's because they were denied healthcare, housing, employment, community, dignity, until such a point as they give up.

Lots of people laughing about the death of Lia Smith on facebook and making posts misgendering her with fake condolences. Don't tell me I have to feel bad whenever transphobes die.

I've said it before and will probably end up saying it again- the way that a lot of ostensible 'trans allies' talk about our deaths consistently presents it as 'something we do to ourselves,' even though to do so they have to actively erase the actual events and causes of those deaths.

Brianna Ghey was murdered by her classmates, who were rabidly transphobic. This rabid transphobia did not emerge in a vacuum; it is the result of an active political project with a great deal of support from the media.

She was not killed by her phone. She was not killed by social media. She was killed by a pair of bigoted little fascist freaks, who became bigoted little fascist freaks because their bigotry was enabled and celebrated by the politicians and journalists of the society they live in.

Her mom has used her death to do so much damage. She could have been outspoken about transphobia, instead she rails against technology.

At the same time, it seems like nobody investigated the internet activity of the killers. Maybe because it would show they were fans of a certain famous author.

They think the harm from the internet is her being trans and having access to information about being trans. They see her becoming trans as the thing that caused her murder. So their solution is to take away the ability of children to be trans, such that cis kids won't have to murder them.

Puberty blockers became the compromise solely for the sake of adults that didn't want to do the right thing for kids in their care and it still didn't matter: transphobes lied through their teeth about blockers and got them banned anyways No more compromises, give HRT to pubescent trans kids

I hate the type of posts that follow the formula "it's **this year** so why do people" blah blah whatever the fuck, but it truly boggles the mind that in 2025 people think they need animal-derived foods for something magical that I apparently can't get in my 10 years of a plant-based diet.

The thing that you should remember about Esther Ghey is that she herself has decided that social media and smart phones are a problem that needs to addressed. She's not just being exploited and manipulated by callous MPs to support their preferred policies; she signed up for this campaign herself
