The story of this election is downtown business owners and suburban landlords trying to meddle in a majority renter city in order to be allowed to exploit us for more money. Fuck that.

As a Minneapolis renter in my 30s, I'm finding these city council/park board candidates who own multiple houses in the city so that they can move IN to where they're running so bizarrely unrelatable. I'm not interested in your platform on housing (or anything else).

Had another meeting with DFL leadership tonight and I do have a bit more hope. We discussed broader cultural problems within the party, how we need to work to avoid a schism, and how moderate Dems need to be willing to come to the table instead of just writing off progressives.

More voices in our community are echoing the same call: it is time for change. And Jacob Frey won't bring it. As the article points out, there's no “vision” section on Frey's website. A vote for Frey is a vote for keeping Minneapolis stagnant, and for more hostility in City Hall.

Even the Star Tribune gets it. “He pours blame on the council in a broad-brush way that impedes his ability to build alliances with the more moderate progressives.” It’s time to move on. Our city deserves a Mayor who is willing to grow relationships and work with the City Council.

Mayor Frey’s political brand is one of division, blame, and grievance. He chooses one-upmanship over collaboration, and our residents are the ones who end up paying the price — gridlock, and failed leadership that doesn’t prioritize our neighbors working paycheck to paycheck.

I just called Disney+ to cancel my account and had the most joyful interaction with an operator who was laughing the entire time about how many people had canceled today. I can only imagine how it feels to spend an entire day witnessing how many people want to stop fascism.

Despite the utter failure of the @dfl.org to adequately confront the transphobia in the party, we still have momentum. Over 1500 folks signed onto our open letter asking for decisive action. That includes some candidates on the ballot this fall in Minneapolis! Early voting started today!

Found out this morning that the night of the shooting, when they were macing homeless people to keep them away from their tents and forcibly removing people, one of the encampment residents lost her child's cremains. The cruelty is unfathomable.

Frey has absolutely failed to step up and respond to this crisis responsibly. He swears there are beds available, and people continue to be turned away. It is harmful misinformation on his part that the housing crisis is under control and he's doing the work.
