When I say our leaders aren’t helping us, this is what I mean. ICE is showing no signs of leaving but our senator, who is currently running for governor, doesn’t even know that. And she’s doing the administration‘s work for them.

On Presidents’ Day, I’m proud to celebrate our President - by which of course I mean Minneapolis City Council President Elliott Payne.

Let me be clear: the mayor has done NOTHING to support the people of Minneapolis. He invited Homan and ICE to City Hall in violation of the separation ordinance. He fundraised for his own legal defense instead of for rent.

Our mayor is so goddamn embarrassing. Minneapolis sees this for what it is. A pizza party for essential workers on their 15 minute break.

Media moved on because for one hour Trump pinky-swore he was going to do his genocide in a nicer way, and every day since the people in Minnesota are showing us it looks like a war zone

Sue who was detained in early December and had her wedding band cut off, is out on patrol near daily and has had them tell her the final warning over 10x.

This family had ICE pounding at the door of their home and are less able to work out of fear.

Update: Mayor Frey was meeting with Tom Homan. We had previously heard concerns from city employees about coming to work in person during this occupation. The presence of ICE at City Hall was a freighting experience for city staff who had to hide.

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them

In NE Minneapolis and Columbia Heights today, Weds. 2/5/26, ICE has been focusing on schools and schoolbus stops. SCHOOLS AND SCHOOLBUS STOPS. This is their “softer touch”

I can’t overstate that nearly every good headline coming out of Minnesota has been followed up by retaliation by the Trump administration—which tends to get a lot less attention. This is infuriating and devastating.

This one wrecked me this afternoon and again now as o reread it. “2026 was the year the Trump administration made household chores untenable, unsafe.”

Today they threatened to arrest all of the neighbors who came out and watched 20 agents struggle to change a flat tire for “impeding a federal investigation.” These are just clowns and they absolutely know it.

please stop calling them "immigration enforcement practices". That's not what they are, because they are not enforcing existing law, they are terrorizing and intimidating and harming people regardless of whether or not they've broken a law; often regardless of whether immigration is involved.

The reason "Abolish ICE" scares them so much is because it speaks to the power of political imagination. Our political imagination has been intentionally suppressed in favor of the stagnation and inertia of the short-term profit economy's political desires. This is existential as well as physical.

If my caucus was any sort of indication, national Dems really need to wake the fuck up about what voters want them to do about ICE.

The whistles are the entry point. But the long game is the community that is being formed every time someone who has never really been engaged before decides to do This One Thing that gives them a reason to talk to their neighbors. Community is what saves us in the end. That is my belief.

This afternoon, federal agents returned to Powderhorn Park. There were 4 ICE vehicles staging at Powderhorn Park Recreation Center lot. This is a clear violation of city and park board policy. 1/

They also take a lot of pride in menacing school patrols. Parents who are outside in hi-viz vests are seen as ideological opponents. If they see patrols, they circle the schools. They also often conspicuously photograph parents to try and intimidate them in the same way they do rapid responders.

This is how Tom Homan reacts to losing a court case to free a medically fragile 5-year-old who was used as bait to lure his dad so they could be imprisoned in a measles factory. Fuck any de-escalation stories that come out.

My neighbor just asked me, in Spanish, if there are fewer ICE around today, and I had to tell her no, I am so sorry, they are still everywhere. “Well, I still have to go to work. I have to pay for rent and food.” I didn’t know what to say to that, so I just said I am so sorry, again 💔

Honestly the longer ICE stays here the more advantage we gain. They have to be gone by spring. If the bike whackos get a shot at patrol it’s OVER.
