I would add that saying “I will read about this instead of watching the video” has the inescapable consequence of requiring that *someone else* watch the video. As you say we can all make different decisions here but this is a fact that needs to be remembered.

everyone gets their own opinion on this. mine is that we are in an age in this country in which people need to see -- not just read -- what is happening. it can be traumatic, but we are living in trauma. we need to know it, and enough people to know it that it can't be plausibly denied.
