the idea of talking to people who like your work comes from a good place of course, but so much changes when the "person who likes your work" turns into "person who thinks you're their friend" or slips even further on that side. it's hard to consecrate time to that sort of things

it's an unfortunate byproduct of the internet's changing tides but you will see more and more artists distance themselves from broader spaces because of the innately noxious parasocial relationships built around the idea of "enjoying art"
