As an aside, Filmotype fonts live on today thanks to modern digitisations and expansions of their catalog. Mansfield was polished up by one of my favourite type designers, Rian Hughes, in 2012. Not free but quite affordable, they are some of the nicest vintage fonts IMO. www.filmotype.com

Stumbled across my copy of The Science Service by Rian Hughes and John Freeman. Unfortunately the spine has cracked on the inside page but I do love the retro European style binding

When DC hired Richard Bruning as their Art Director in the mid-80s, they quickly started outpacing Marvel in design quality. That's never really changed. Marvel will occasionally hire someone like Rian Hughes to design a GN for them, but on the whole they never seem to place much value in design.

The Multiversity continues on A-Comic-A-Day with the Guidebook issue. A team-up of alternate versions of Sivana is trying to conquer the multiverse (because… why wouldn’t you). Two Batmen learn the nature of the multiverse from a comic book (the very comic the reader is reading).

The Power Fantasy 9 had a great article by Rian Hughes about design. I need to read it again to see if it might help me w/a poem I'm struggling to complete. #IHadThatComic: July 12, 2007 Yesterday's Tomorrows - a wonderful hardcover collection of #RianHughes illustrated stories, including two hard-to-find stories written by #GrantMorrison: Dare (pretty much #DanDare: The End) and Really & Truly (originally serialized in 2000AD). Good stuff!

Hopefully, a new edition will appear. Rian Hughes doesn’t seem to do ebooks. I got his last two fiction books on paper, something I practically never do any more. And my best friend bought me this, which is amazing.
