Just watched a Peregrine chase a flock of Pink-footed Geese and then take one down! Seem to to remember reading about previous records of hunting geese (Barnacle?) in the Derek Ratcliffe book but never witnessed it! 🤯

An important Cuckoo host species, the Meadow Pipit is often overlooked but has huge character and claw! Their “parachute” display is a delight to watch! They are declining; Amber-listed and on the global IUCN “near threatened” list Great to see 130+ @bibbeyswildfarms.bsky.social today 😎

Saxicolous (stone) lichens, in some places thought to live for 11,500 years, challenge basic concepts like species, and some consider them more akin to actual ecosystems. Their symbiotic relationships can be viewed as metaphors for resistance, resilience, and interconnection.

I am really not sure about predominantly going for headline species. I’ll give a cheer when I hear the there is a genuine effort to conserve farmland birds such as Corn Buntings and other L B J s.
