My favorite shot from May came from an evening spent with shorebirds. This Semipalmated Sandpiper photo was my favorite of the month and was published in the North Dakota Game & Fish Department's 2026 wildlife calendar. #birds

A sooty oystercatcher at Bald Hill Beach. These aren't regulars at BHB. Pied oystercatchers are resident there and almost always seen. I did notice that the pied oystercatchers chased this one away 😄

Received details today on this colour-ringed Whimbrel I observed at Playa del Janubio, Lanzarote last month. Ringed in Iceland on 16.6.20 it was seen again there in summer '23 & wintered on Lanzarote in the winters of 23/24, 24/25 & now again for at least its third winter. @waderquest.bsky.social
