Redcar: Now 305+ Eider off Redcar (only 210 a week ago). Most of them feed around the rocks close off town centre at low tide but gather in a large flock off Zetland Roundabout at High Tide. Mostly adult drakes.

Loads of acorns this year near us. Make sure you grab a handful and plant them. Oak trees help support over 2,300 Spieces. Even had a Greater Spotted Woodpecker stashing them in an old telegraphpole. (Never seen that before!)

Pleasing to receive another resighting of one of our BTO Common Terns – a chick ringed on the raft at Wheldrake Ings in June 2021 was present in the autumn roost at Formby Point, Lancashire on the 14th August (previously seen at the RSPB Aire Valley colony in 2023/24/25 )

Great trip to the coast today. Quality birds and good conversations at
#RSPB
Bempton. Pied Fly, smart Lesser Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, Hobby, Kestrel, Sprawk, masses of Chiffchaffs, W.Warblers, Blackcaps and Whitethroats. Icing on the cake was a stunning male Redstart.

reintroduced Corncrakes has pinged our MOTUS Tower! On 24th August at 21:32 it was picked up migrating over Spurn for 6 minutes! Amazingly, the same bird was detected just 90 minutes later at Weybourne, Norfolk! More info here
