Our group refound the East Yorkshire White-throated Needletail at Bempton Cliffs this afternoon. Unbelievable moment when it shot through as we were watching a Barn Owl! Raced down to cliffs to relocate and initially no sign, but it then reappeared and we had it flying over our heads 🤯🤯

Common Buzzards filled the sky in an amazing sight yesterday @flamboroughbird.bsky.social when early afternoon thermals filled up with raptors . You could be forgiven for thinking you were at Batumi or Tarifa. A minimum of 75 C Buzzards and 4 Red Kites, appearing and dispersing south west quickly.

A Barred Warbler was the day’s highlight along with a Yellow-browed Warbler and 4 Brambling. Pink-footed Geese noted on the move while unprecedented numbers of Common Buzzard were logged. Full details here flamboroughbirdobs.org.uk/sightings/29...

This from @flamboroughbird.bsky.social Friday appears to be Agonopterix rotundella (Ashen Buff) - (subject to final confirmation) which would be the second Yorkshire record after one in 1986 (also at Flamborough!). Nationally Scarce and apparently relatively few records annually in UK. #teammoth

We’ve been delighted to host @joewynnbirds.bsky.social this week at FBO as part of the Trans-Siberian genoscape project tracing geographic origins of vagrant birds with 3 Yellow-browed Warbler sampled.

Birds remained in the form of Red-breasted Flycatcher, 4 Yellow-browed Warbler (1 at RSPB Bempton) and Cetti’s Warbler. 2 Great Egrets were new as was a Ring Ouzel at Buckton while 99 Little Gull were on the seawatch. Full details here flamboroughbirdobs.org.uk/sightings/27...
