On Sunday, we arrived at @rspb.bsky.social Aylesbeare Common #Devon after what must have been an hour on torrential rain. The sun was now out and we came across these bedraggled ponies trying to dry off. Now steaming under the 'warmth' of the late afternoon sun and the rain water dripping off them.

The low winter sun creates amazing shadows. Combined with the current flooding in South #Somerset allowed for the creation of images such as these from a drone.

This afternoon and a trip to East Lambrook Manor Garden in #Somerset to see the wonderful display of #Snowdrops and #Crocus. The blue sky and sun were a bonus given the relentless rain and grey skies for the last few weeks.

Cormorants at #RSPBHallWall #Somerset this afternoon. Maybe the subspecies sinensis (Continental Cormorant) given the white head or more likely just a Cormorant moving into breeding plumage given the red face patch.

A pair of RAF Typhoons (Apollo41 and Apollo42) were loitering high over the Somerset Levels this morning. Eventually they dropped below the clouds but heading west and were gone. Here is ZK382 (Callsign Apollo41)

At #SeatonMarshes #Devon this morning. Interesting to see a number of Oystercatchers feeding in the grass fields. Those with the white collar 'chinstrap' are adults in winter plumage, while the others are in Summer plumage.😀

Extraordinary sight this morning as I watched a large Otter cross the road at a level crossing before disappearing into the River Tone which the railway line also crosses. Seemed content feeding in the flooded river. I was so busy watching that I didn't take any pictures!
