Strange mix of findings,if you use AI in funding proposals, then you likely higher your chances of funding (unclear if reviewers used them too). Then the same scientists publish more (likely with the help of AI). The quality of the output is however lower than excellent. Publish fewer better papers!

Many people had the early idea to make a digital copy of oneself based on published work, failed applications,code, etc. To fine-tune llm's but as we are just a drop of water in the data used to train them i would not worry too much about this digital gadget. Legally and ethically different story.

This is a very good overview on recent developments of AI and its consequences for social sciences. Outdated, of course, as of yesterday. Social scientists were always terribly bad at predicting the future, but good at shaping it through policy. And, we are used to find and define our niche.

I disagree, we simply don't know the consequences of AI for research jobs yet. Why should a statistics professor(why learn statistics if it does not lead to employment) or a lab leader(if AI can write strong grant proposals and design experiments) be less affected than young researchers/entry level
