I've noticed that many people who complain that others don't show enough respect to their chosen beliefs and traditions often display, through their actions, even less respect for those beliefs and traditions than the people they complain about.

In Swedish, a word for what you eat to bridge the gap between meals (or while waiting for the main course to cook) is stödmacka. It means "support sandwich." A similar word in Norwegian is ventepølse, or "waiting sausage."

I don't think I'll ever understand how some people can look at the current state of the world and think "the problem here is that the people with the least power and resources just have it too good".

This is the cost of casual legitimization of genai. The blood of this kind of suffering is on the hands of everyone who uses it for all the kind of stuff Giger has pointed out. Because you've been told for at least two years now what the cost of it is and to stop doing it.

Can you imagine what #ruby would look like if code of conduct violations were actually enforced? Especially against our white supremacists? Refreshing to be reminded that world could exist if we wanted it. Good for the PSF and its moderators for maintaining a healthy community. 👏🏽 https://social.jacobian.org/@jacob/115215001618713506

One policy solution to Young Men we should be considering is Universal Basic Electric Guitar (UBEG). I'm not joking, by the way. Kids of any gender should get a low-cost starter kit for some hobby of their choosing once they turn 13. A camera, paints, a cheap sampler, etc.
