i'm thinking, this is great politics, this looks good, excellent, great endearing little stunt- then i'm thinking- oh this is excellent, this is showing kids what it looks like when an elected official is working for them, is doing their job i think a lot of us have forgotten what that looks like

It is really sad to witness what is happening to CBS News in real time (including the mass layoffs of its journalists of color last year) but at least there are people inside like Scott Pelley trying to fight what's happening.

It's been 16 hours since two journalists were arrested with protesters at Delaney Hall. Even lawyers can't reach them. New Jersey State Patrol made arrests. According to Essex County Jail, everyone is physically there. But they're just "transport." Legal "custody" is with Newark Police Department.

The danger of AI ruining Google isn't just that your own search results are going to suck (search results have sucked for a couple of years now) but that there is no longer any hint of a shared reality. Tired of seeing recs for better search engines when we're actually facing epistemic collapse.
