New bike lane between Queensferry High Street and the Hawes Car Park is finally taking shape. When the rest of the project is completed the Hight Street is going to be a shared space which is obviously the exact design needed to combat the current carmageddon 🤯

We found this the case with Whitehouse Loan yesterday also, which resulted in a hard fall turning right into Blackford Rd. Five minutes later we witnessed another kid fall at the turning off of Newbattle Terrace onto Whitehouse Loan. Quiet routes need gritted, @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social ❄️ 😡

Update @edi.bike @spokes.org.uk Comiston Rd closure has a 🚧 gap that is passable with care on carriageway (see grey jacket cyclist route) so pleasant compared to Braid Rd. @edinreporter.bsky.social is it not odd the petrol station is also closed for roof works right now? Some coincidence!

Comiston Rd closed for emergency repairs but cycles able to proceed in both directions to closure then walk on pavement. Braid Rd is busy but Quiet Route is OPEN. Beware drivers suddenly pulling into n’bound bus lane to make U turn at Braid Hills Rd jnct. #EdTravCyc @spokes.org.uk @edi.bike

Leith Walk cycle lane solstice update: around 3% year-on-year growth in cycle journeys this year. A significant slowing in growth compared with 2024, which was 57% higher than 2023 by this time in the year. The busiest day was 13th May with 2,056 cyclists; 260,000 cycle journeys so far in total.
