Today’s reflections on teaching Reception come via Bishop Ken Untener. This is what we are about: We plant seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise. We lay foundations that will need further development.

I had a great time reading Land of Roar by @jennymclachlan.bsky.social to my Yr 3 class last year. Last week one of them came bounding up to me to tell me he’d won a prize where he could choose any book, and he got Return to Roar and was loving it. Properly made my day!

Highlights of my teaching week were being outside with the children. Lots of fun playing with autumn leaves, sycamore seeds and throwing them up as everyone leapt into the air from our climbing blocks. Autumn 1 is exhausting in EYFS, but still full of joy!
