While paddling along the lake this evening, I found a furry friend on shore. This coyote is not really all that concerned about me. It actually sat for a photo shoot from my kayak prior to this moment. #mammals 🌿

It looks like I’m drifting out to sea, but this is Lake Winnipeg. It was a beautiful evening to get out on the water for a little bit. I’ve clocked over 150 km in this kayak this season and I’m not done.

I took a drive up to my #Aurora photographing pond to see what I could find. This is another phone picture, but I did take the good camera with me. They’ve calmed down for now, but I’m too tired to wait up for another flare.

Not a great picture because I only had my phone and it’s a little cloudy, but we’re having a little bit of Aurora tonight.

I took the kayak out twice today because the weather was just so perfect. This is from about 7:30 this morning. I love how the light is reflected in the water in this one. Unfortunately, the glassiness didn’t last very long so it was a relatively short trip.

I was floating on the sky tonight. If you look really carefully, you can see the eagle that is watching me from the shore. I live for evenings like this.

Assiniboine Park was looking especially beautiful last night. It is a wonderful public space for the City of #Winnipeg and I’m proud to be a member of the Board of Directors.

I find red-tailed hawks hard to photograph. The seasoned adults rarely hold still long enough to snap a shot. The young of the year, however, take a little longer to build up their wariness so almost all of my RTHA photos are of juveniles like this one from a few weeks ago. #birds 🌿

I have been making interpretive signs for almost 15 years. However, I’ve never done an installation before. Today was a first, helping the volunteer run Whiteshell Trappers Museum install the signs I made for them. The log wall was a challenge, but I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out.

It’s cute mushroom season around here. Found this guy popping out of the end of a poplar. A quick search suggests they might be beech mushrooms, though we have no beech trees here. 🌿

Playing with adult tinker toys this afternoon. I finally got around to putting my kayak rack together after cutting out the pieces a few weeks ago and realizing I was missing a few. I still need a couple of caps, but it works regardless. It was a fun afternoon project.

I got up early and took the kayak to a different part of the lake this morning. This is the Washow Bay drain, a little river that runs up into Lake Winnipeg. I thought it would be a fun change of scene. I was right why not join me on this 10 km morning paddle 1/

Tried putting the kayak into the lake at a different spot tonight. Unfortunately, it was much shallower than I expected and not the best paddle. Still, it was an interesting view of a landmark I’ve seen hundreds of times from the road.
