that's not the point of the post it's not about trying to access media it's about the inability to own anything and how we've become nothing but conduits for data mines and even the slop that's supposed to pacify us is worthless

This is true through gaming content creation. This is an issue across gaming content creation niches. I have no suggestions for content creators but I've seen some who gave multiple channels for their other gaming interest or others that try to fit it all in one one channel.

I've been thinking a lot about this and while I'm not ready to see it all burn down and abandon the game, I also don't feel right doing nothing. So for me: ❌ No more money goes to EA ❌ Unsubbed from official Sims accounts, YT, and Discord ❌ Will not engage with official or sponsored EA content

I'm intrigued, but also a studio known for single player narrative adventures suddenly transitioning to a free to play multiplayer game... almost always seems like a desperate attempt to try and keep a studio afloat these days. Visuals look great and concept does sound intriguing at least.

Honestly I think you can boil down the state of the entire AAA industry to the following too-common beliefs: 1) Old games are bad because the point of software is new technology 2) New ideas are bad because the point of art is brand loyalty 3) Given 1+2 all games must combine old IP with new tech

maybe a hot take i dunno but i find that many negative reviews on games i like boil down to "this game that was intended as a slow, progressive experience to be enjoyed over several weeks was not enjoyable when i played 80 hours in a week so i could be amongst the first to post a review"
