Better cycling cities are not just "more bike-friendly." They are also more equitable in access to cycling between genders. This means that infrastructure, safety, and policy improvements tend to benefit women more by removing barriers that affect them disproportionately. #cycling #bicycleurbanism

Genuine game-changing infrastructure. The Govan-Partick Bridge's only been in place 18 months but I can't imagine trying to navigate this part of town (by bike or by foot) without it.

“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.” Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life. Common sense. Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.

Mildly pleasing achievement of the evening: after a late(ish) night out, picked up an e-bike #citybike outside my nation’s civil service HQ, cycled home uphill in virtually no time, and with at least half of the journey on protected cycle lanes. #BuildItAndTheyWillCome

🚶 ELM ROW CYCLE ROUTE – UPDATE The new cycle route behind the Elm Row bus stop has been built. However the old downhill path is still open and marked, so cyclists are still using it. Because of the slope, riders can approach the bus stop area quite quickly. 🧵

Going car-free is the best thing most people can do for climate. To reduce car dependency, cities should promote car-free living, supporting compact cities through policy, and investing in public transportation, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and shared mobility options.

Elm Row "cycle" lane.

Final stats for the Omni Centre cycle lane in 2025: a slight 1% increase on 2024 with 580,000 journeys; a new record set of 2,265 cyclists on Friday, 7th November. The significant increase in numbers in prior years came after the development of cycling infrastructure on Leith Walk.

#EdTravCyc icy puddles along Leith Links paths and at the bottom of the slope to the Restalrig Railway Path. Puddles across the width of the bridges over the crematorium entrance. Findlay slope frosty but walkable.

🚶🚴‍♀️👨‍🦽 Delighted to pass on that as councillors were discussing, this afternoon, the need for the St Mark's Park walking/wheeling/cycling path to re-open, the Powderhall site manager's confirmed their intention to re-open tomorrow (w/ some asterix ie initial controlled crossing & nearer diversion).
