An awful lot of companies in tech seem to be gutting project managers...which is weird when they say it's to double-down on AI - the use of which generally requires a person to use more project management skills. It's almost like the AI isn't the reason....

I was Alex Caruso's biggest booster when he was on the Lakers - and when the let him walk I was LIVID. I was happy for him last year, until he said that "I got a REAL one" about the ring. So very happy for him that his team has lost home court advantage. Fuck him.

imo white collar crime in general deserves extremely harsh punishment. other crime, no, we know that stuff doesn't work anyway, but getting popped for public corruption (which this is) or financial crime SHOULD ruin your life.

Jesus Christ this is the most chilling thing I've read in ages. The "new understanding of truth" described here is not new in any way, it is basically a return to pre-literate dark ages & the inevitable result is going to be fascism.

Gen Z Is Pioneering a New Understanding of Truth
The first generation to truly grow up online, Generation Z and their cohort live in a social media ecosystem that blends facts and feelings. Itâs significantly shifting how they understand whatâs true...

The "return on investment" with tenured faculty is having accomplished experts who are experienced teachers there to teach the students. It's sort of a basic point about colleges, you'd think the people on a board of trustees would get that.

One weird thing is that it turns out I like a lot of movies that were flops but I didn't really ever pay attention to how the movies did so I had no clue. Like, I didn't know Dungeons & Dragons flopped until like a month ago.

Remember when people who drove Teslas felt bad about owning Teslas because Elon Musk was openly a fascist racist and everyone told the Tesla owners that they were right to feel bad and then Elon left the government? He's still a fascist racist and Tesla owners should still feel bad.

This is the correct take. Students think it's the easy button. Some because they're lazy and don't want to do the work and some because they have it in their head they need to do 3 semesters' worth of credits in one semester to get ahead and it looks like a way to make that work...
