It appears the government won't be satisfied until it has hounded trans people out of society altogether. The Government are choosing every moment and mechanism they can to demonstrate they don't care about their lives. We have to draw the line. Reject the framework.

I have sponsored @nadiawhittomemp.bsky.social’s motion calling for the draft EHRC code of practice to be rejected by the House of Commons. We need an Equality Act that cannot be misinterpreted. That sets out a clear and legal framework and respects trans people in their daily lives.

Such an important statement. Many identified the impact this would have on the disabled community, or people with intersectional needs. It all negates dignity and massively overestimates available facilities. The suggestion trans+ people should “just use” accessible toilets harms both groups

The House of Commons yesterday debated the laying of the EHRC code of practice. Functionally, it didn’t do very much, there was no opportunity to dis-apply it, but it was an important opportunity to get oppositional voices into the media and build awareness. No Green MPs turned up.

We are writing to our leadership and elected representatives to express our utmost disappointment following the lack of Green voices during the Parliamentary debate on the Code of Practice, and we will be asking for urgent clarification on why this was the case.

This is a miserable start to Pride month. All indicators show that the EHRC’s new code of practice will contribute to the erosion of LGBT rights in the UK. Ministers and the EHRC must show how they will protect trans people and those who don’t conform to gender stereotypes.

@greenparty.org.uk @lgbtiqa.greenparty.org.uk I echo the questions about the GPEW absence in Parliament today and the lack of any statement about the EHRC Code. The Lib Dems came out proudly in force with excellent, informed criticisms of segregation and exclusion. Feeling very let down.

The Lib Dems do deserve credit for this. It feels like despite previous failings, they're actually listening and changing. And they made great contributions and there were a lot of them. Again, zero Green MPs, big disappointment.

A Minister in Parliament basically licensing people to assault trans, NB and gender non-conforming people for going about their daily lives. That's the UK in 2026.

I have to say I am reconsidering my Green Party membership here. This was an important day to speak out and they have not done so. The Lib Dems have been forceful, loud and said exactly the right things.

I don't really give a flying fuck whether politicians believe trans women are women or not. I know I am a woman, I don't need affirmation from them. Where it becomes an issue is when they say that their belief trumps my reality and tries to stop me living my life. Keep your belief to yourself.

There are no “legitimate concerns” about trans people. There aren’t any about women’s safety or fairness in sports or kids being kids or fucking toilets. If there were you’d have heard of them before 2018. I am a cis white woman so you have to listen to me or I’ll cry.
