Ed Davey and I have written to the Minister for Women & Equalities, asking her to withdraw the EHRC Code of Practice. The Government have repeatedly assured trans people that they have protection from discrimination, yet this guidance does the opposite, breaking decades of precedent.

Monitoring the social media engagement on IDAHOBIT involved more than a few people asking for a definition of phobia, in quite an angry or dismissive way. “an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.” I wonder what they thought we might respond with? What I find disturbing about these preemptive attacks on Harriet Herman is that she hasn’t done or said anything yet. But Rowling and Reindorf are determined she must not offer any crumb of comfort to trans women, so they give her a taste of the pressure that will come if she does step out of line.
