Despite more than 1 in 4 MPs signing my motion against the Code, it is due to come into force without any debate or vote in Parliament. I have written to the Minister for Women and Equalities urging her to withdraw it now. 2/2

What is needed, among others, are wide support bases with local people, institutions, influencers and politicians in person. Connect, liaise, share information, do community work - demonstrate that you are valuable members of local communities. (I know - happens already.) From there, dissent arises.

This is amazing; 40 women’s organizations standing in support of trans people’s human rights against this government’s targeting of trans people against the EHRC transphobic code. Trans people and cis women’s rights are not in opposition.

So good to get the support from Amber Gill at the Queer Health gathering last night. Throughout our campaign, we have been boosted by confident, clear allyship just like this.

As we’ve shared and commented on this, we’re getting a little of the old “yeah, but how many women are in the UK?” push-back. People missing the point that we’re building a case for compassion and inclusion, not going head-to-head with those who’d divide and exclude. We’d say 100k is a decent start

This year, Pride is more protest than party. Today I again raised my concerns - if these questions and others are not answered adequately by the chair of the EHRC when she comes before @commonswec.parliament.uk next week, I will be signing the fatal motion on the code of practice.

This video is an attempt to explain the parliamentary processes being used to give the EHRC guidance legal status and why I think they are a problem in themselves. Am sure it’s not perfect but I hope it’s helpful in trying to navigate the acronyms and actions being taken.

Such an important statement. Many identified the impact this would have on the disabled community, or people with intersectional needs. It all negates dignity and massively overestimates available facilities. The suggestion trans+ people should “just use” accessible toilets harms both groups
