I have been in touch with Euan Hyslop, SNP cllr for DrumBrae Gyle, concerning the speed of drivers on Glasgow Rd. He is going to table a question at the next TEC asking what measures are being taken by council officers by the way of monitoring , enforcement etc as was previously promised him.

Speed cameras, bus lane cameras, police, pedestrians traffic lights turning green instantly to avoid kids crossing the road on the red man because they are fed up of waiting (I don’t blame them at all). Council can take action swiftly for kids safety. But kids don’t vote. Shame on the council.

Yesterday a child was hit by a car on Glasgow Road ,and taken to hospital.Thankfully, his injuries are not serious. This is the second accident on this road in a matter of weeks and yet Edinburgh council and the Police seem unwilling to take steps to make the road safer,despite calls from residents.

Drum Brae roundabout in Corstorphine is surely one of the busiest, noisiest, most polluting and downright dangerous in the whole of Edinburgh. Coupled with the four roads (aka traffic sewers ) coming off it, it is completely unfit for purpose. Pedestrian crossings routinely ignored by drivers.

Certainly yes to the first question, probably no to the second. Considering drivers are breaking the law every day and getting away with it, is it any wonder that they think that they can can do what they like without consequence. Make it an immediate ban - no exceptions -and things might improve.

Looking at the data for the local half arsed LTN in Corstorphine shows 48% of HGVs speeding at the spot that one killed a man and his dog on the High Street. 86% further along on Ladywell Road. 10% are speeding up the narrow bit of Manse Road with 2ft wide pavements. With the data being Oct 23

Meanwhile in Edinburgh. The sub committee was asked by the committee to ask officers to find out what policy they should ignore. The Council has launched an inquiry, they're not sure what about but they do know they want to spend a lot of money on consultants to tell them how it might have been done
