Treating any communication platform that algorithmically selects which content to put in front of a user as a publisher, and legally responsible for that content, is the screamingly obvious solution that will deeply upset maybe seven companies and make life considerably better.

Theatrical distribution is good, and for people who really don’t see the difference between it and your tv, I have good news! It is coming your living room in a couple of months anyway. But if theaters go away, the movies WILL get worse, and I would really love it if people thought that part through

People who expect a movie audience to sit in reverent silence have got to get over themselves. The selfishness since the pandemic is expressed like this because there are so few genuine public spaces for but one purpose anymore and we're caught between people who don't care they're in public

Re the theatrical experience: when I have paid for a cinema ticket I do not care if/when people are eating, snogging, texting, scrolling, making tiktoks of the big action sequences, changing a baby's diaper, whatever. Being in a crowd enjoying the experience is the whole entire point!

1) Filmmakers like theatrical distribution for the same reason musicians like playing live shows, because a good movie or show with a good crowd is electric. Sure, a bad crowd can spoil a good thing, but this mostly doesn’t happen and I’ve never understood people who complain about it all the time
