This is why the "Animation is cinema!" crowd gets mocked. You can't say animated films should be treated like real movies only to shout "IT'S FOR KIDS!" when people say a movie is poorly written. Pixar movies are made for kids, and their movies are widely acclaimed in part because of their writing.

Appropriate that I’m having these Oreos while writing up some comic reviews.

It should probably also be noted that "separating the art from the artist" isn't only about ignoring an artist's flaws (or crimes) as a person in order to like the work, it can also be about ignoring their wonderful qualities in order to recognize they're not very good at this art stuff.

Tars was built as a fantastic on-set puppet. AND, was 100% CGI in shots like this. Things are rarely one technique only. A practical effect on set does not mean "no CGI".

reminder that JK Rowling is not just some woman with anti-trans opinions. she is an anti-trans activist. she actively uses the money brought in through Harry Potter to support and fund anti-trans policies. she intends to do the same with this new TV series. grow up and let this franchise go.

You know what's amazing about that new Harry Potter trailer? Just by its existence alone, it caused the Moana live-action remake to no longer be the most hated trailer of the week. That takes a lot of effort to accomplish that.
