making comics is the best and when you realize it's what you wanna do, you wanna do it IMMEDIATELY but the end game for this is something nobody is happy with and only does your longterm goals a disservice. start small, build your portfolio, be open to feedback, be cool about it (same for writers)

Had an artist reach out saying they were interested in collaborating. Told them to send me their comic portfolio. A few hours later they reach out and say they have no idea what a comic artist portfolio looks like and if I could just look at their pin ups. Nope! You're not ready.
